Ricardo Garcia
Introduction
Ricardo Garcia is an American tenor born in 1992. He graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2019, and is currently in the ensemble of Staatstheater Darmstadt. In Darmstadt, his roles have included Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Cassio in Verdi’s Otello, and Oronte in Handel’s Alcina. Other performances have included Schmidt in Massenet’s Werther and the Third Jew in Strauss’ Salome in his final year as a member of the company’s Studio. A former resident artist of Portland Opera, he has sung Bill in Barber’s A Hand of Bridge and Donald Hopewell in Moore’s Gallantry, and understudied Andronico in Vivaldi’s Bajazet. On the concert stage, Garcia has sung Handel’s Messiah with the Pacific Chamber Orchestra, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Eureka Symphony, and Gonzalez‘s Misa Azteca with the Rogue Valley Chorale. In 2023, he won the George and Nora London Foundation Singing Competition.
