Oliver Boyd

Introduction

Oliver Boyd is an Australian operatic baritone born in 1992. He completed his Master’s in Music at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin with Christine Schäfer and Ralf Lukas. Prior to that, he studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Brisbane with Gregory Massingham.

In September 2022, Oliver made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker, under the direction of Kirill Petrenko, singing the title role in Dallapiccola’s Il prigioniero. He returned in January 2023 to sing in Mendelssohn’s Elijah. He sang the lead role in William Walton’s The Bear and in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester under Robin Ticciati, at the Kühlhaus in Berlin, in 2021 and 2020, respectively.

Boyd is currently a member of the chorus of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Since moving to Berlin, he has made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (Die Tischlerei), has sung as a soloist at the Konzerthaus Berlin, and placed fourth in the Felix Mendelssohn Competition.
