Valeria Girardello is an Italian mezzo-soprano born in 1992. She studied at the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia and Accademia Teatro alla Scala. For Teatro La Fenice, Valeria performed in the New Year’s Concert 2020 under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung, and in Vivaldi’s Dorilla in Tempe conducted by Diego Fasolis, and has performed as Disinganno in Handel’s Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno with Andrea Marco, and as Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto with Damiano Michieletto and Daniele Callegari.
For Teatro alla Scala, she has performed in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi conducted by Adam Fischer and directed by Woody Allen, Verdi’s Rigoletto under the baton of Daniel Oren and the direction of Gilbert Deflo, Strauss’ Die Aegyptische Helena, and Angelina in the children’s reduction of Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Her Baroque repertoire includes Vivaldi’s Catone in Utica at Teatro di Ferrara with M. Sardelli, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Legrenzi’s La divisione del mondo in Kiel, Handel’s Theodora at the Britten-Pears Festival in Aldeburgh with Christian Curnyn, and Monteverdi’s Il ballo delle Ingrate at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam with Pierre Audi and Christophe Rousset.
