Mengting Wu

Mengting Wu is a Chinese soprano born in 1994. After studies at Zhejiang Normal University and the Rostock University of Music and Drama, she graduated as a Master of Opera from the Berlin University of the Arts in 2023. In March 2023 and June 2022, Wu made her debut at the Bavarian State Opera under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski in the role of Ursuline in Penderecki’s Die Teufel von Loudun, and she sang the principal role of Qinli in the premiere of Ching’s Julie et Mao at the Theater Erfurt in 2024.

In January 2022, Wu was invited by the LauschWerk Vokalensemble to sing in a performance of ARCHE by Jörg Widmann at the fifth anniversary concert of the Elbphilharmonie under the baton of Kent Nagano. In July 2021, she was selected to participate in the ARD International Music Competition. In 2019, she played the role of Sanzang Tang in Wang’s contemporary opera The Journey to the West at the Katharinenaal in Rostock.
