Marie-Andrée Bouchard-Lesieur

Marie-Andrée Bouchard-Lesieur is a French mezzo-soprano born in 1993. She studied at the Bordeaux Conservatory in 2014–2019, and she participated in the Young Singers Project – Salzburg 2019 and the Paris Opera Académie 2019–2021. Her roles include the second lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in Bastille, Mère Marie de l’Incarnation in Poulenc’s Dialogues des carmélites at the Opéra national de Bordeaux, Inès in Verdi’s Il Trovatore at the Paris Opera, and the alto part in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Her recent performances include Siegrune (and understudy for Sieglinde) in Wagner’s Die Walküre at La Monnaie in Brussels, Marguerite in Bizet’s Le retour de Virginie in Lyon, and Meg Page in Verdi’s Falstaff at Opera Royal de Wallonie – Liège, as well as the alto solo in Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, conducted by Daniel Harding. Bouchard-Lesieur won first prize at the international Bordeaux opera competition in 2018 and second prize at the Klaudia Taev competition in Pärnu 2023.
