Kevin Godínez

Kevin Godínez is a Costa Rican baritone born in 1993. He studied at the University of Costa Rica and at the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) in Philadelphia. At the age of 23, he debuted with the Compañía Lírica Nacional of Costa Rica in the role of Marchese D’Obigny in Verdi’s La Traviata, with Maestro Arthur Fagen on the baton. He also sang the roles of Silvio in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci, Slook in Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio, Gianni Schicchi in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Bartolo in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Enrico in Donizetti’s Il campanello di notte.

Godínez has sung with several opera companies in the USA: Opera in Williamsburg, Annapolis Opera, Knoxville Opera, and Merola Opera. In 2025, he will debut with the Philadelphia Opera. His roles include Schaunard and Marcello in Puccini’s La bohème, Don Giovanni in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, Dottore Malatesta in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and Conte d’Almaviva in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. In 2023, Godinez was a finalist in the Royal Opera House Jette Parker auditions.
