ByeongMin Gil

ByeongMin Gil is a South Korean bass-baritone born in 1994. He studied at the Seoul National University College of Music. Gil made his debut as an opera singer at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence in 2018, and joined the 2019/20 season of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House in London. His roles include Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Don Giovanni and Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Figaro in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Colline in Puccini’s La bohème, Procida in Verdi’s I Vespri Siciliani, Silva in Verdi’s Ernani, Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Mustafa in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algerie, Mefistofele in Gounod’s Faust, Mefistofele in Boito’s Mefistofele, Wolfram in Wagner’s Tannhäuser, Aleko in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko, and Caspar in von Weber’s Der Freischütz. In 2023, Gil won second prize in the Ningbo International Vocal Competition and first prize in the 2023 New York Opera Index. Gil has released two albums: a Korean art song album A Time to Blossom and a classical album, The Road of Classics. Gil participated in the Mirjam Helin Competition in 2019.
