Bonsu Ku is a Korean bass-baritone. He began his studies at the Korea National University of Arts and is now continuing them in at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar, Germany, where he is working for a master’s degree. Ku, born in 1988, won the national Hwacheon Bimok Singing Competition in 2016 and the Tbilisi International Singing Competition in 2018. Bonsu Ku’s repertoire includes such roles as Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Bartolo in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Sarastro in The Magic Flute and Leporello in Don Giovanni as well as Colline in Puccini’s La Bohème. Orchestral works in which he has sung include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Haydn’s Creation and many of Bach’s cantatas.
