Competition 2024

The IXth Mirjam Helin Competition will once again bring outstanding young singers around the world to the heart of Helsinki between 3–12 June 2024. Organised by the Finnish Cultural Foundation since 1984, the competition has catapulted many singers into successful careers. The Mirjam Helin competition is known for demanding a broad repertoire (Baroque music, Lied, opera) while at the same time allowing great liberty in the choice of music.

The venue of the preliminary round and the semifinals will be the Sibelius Academy concert hall. The final will take place in the Helsinki Music Centre concert hall, with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra led by Sir Mark Elder. We will also be announcing a number of related events during spring.

On the basis of pre-screening videos, 56 singers were selected for the preliminary round.
