Forty-six young singers participated in the 7th Mirjam Helin Competition. The jury selected 19 singers for the semi-finals and eight for the finals. The competition was won by Kateryna Kasper of Ukraine and Beomjin Kim of South Korea.
A total of €133,000 was awarded. The prize amounts were the same for both categories: First prize was €30,000, second prize was €20,000, third prize was €10,000, and fourth prize was €5,000. The €3,000 prize for the best performance of a Finnish song by a non-Finnish singer was awarded to Croatian baritone Matija Meić.
Jorma Silvasti, Artistic Director of the Savonlinna Opera Festival was the Chair of the jury. Jury members included Franz Grundheber, Maria Guleghina, Ben Heppner, Robert Holl, Andrea Rost, Nathalie Stutzmann and Deborah Voigt.
