Competition 2014

46 young singers took part in the VII Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition on 4–13 August, 2014. The Jury selected 19 competitors for the semifinals and eight for the final. The winners of the competition were Kateryna Kasper, Ukraine, and Beomjin Kim, South Korea.

A total of €133,000 was awarded in prizes.  The prizes were the same for both men and women: 1st prize €30,000, 2nd prize €20,000, 3rd prize €10,000 and 4th prize €5,000.The prize of €3,000 for the best performance by a non-Finnish singer of a Finnish song went to Croatian baritone Matija Meić.

The chairman of the 2014 Jury was the Artistic Director of the Savonlinna Opera Festival, Jorma Silvasti. The members were Franz Grundheber, Maria Guleghina, Ben Heppner, Robert Holl, Andrea Rost, Nathalie Stutzmann and Deborah Voigt.
