Stefan Astakhov

Stefan Astakhov is a German baritone. He was born in Moscow, but his family moved to German when he was ten. He speaks Russian, German, English, Italian, French and some Polish. He has been studying singing at the University of Music Detmold since 2015, and at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, Poland, since 2017. In the 2018/19 season he has also been a member of the opera class of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw. In 2018 he won two singing competitions in Germany (GWG Münster Award, Ton und Erklärung Leverkusen) and was awarded a special prize at the International Vocal Competition s’Hertogenbosch. He has sung Fiorello in Rossini’s Barber of Seville, the Bosun in Britten’s Billy Budd, Figaro in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and Styx in Offenbach’s operetta Orpheus in the Underworld.
