Virva Puumala

Virva Puumala is a Finnish soprano born in 1990. She is a studying at the Sibelius Academy of the Uniarts Helsinki; her teachers include Sirkka Parviainen and Soile Isokoski. Puumala has won two national singing competitions in Finland, the Helsinki Lied Competition in 2018 and the Lappeenranta Singing Competition in 2019. She has sung the title role in Donizetti’s opera Rita, Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Kaarina in Tuomela’s Neljän tien risteys, Aurora in Linkola’s Abrahamin pidot and Esther in Tötterström’s Kotiin, which was also performed in Berlin. She has a broad Lieder repertoire, has appeared as an oratorio soloist and has collaborated with a number of Finnish orchestras.
