Christoph Engel

Christoph Engel (b. 1992) is a lyric baritone from Berlin. He began his singing studies in Paris as a pupil of Leontina Vaduva. Since 2015 he has studied at the Basel College of Music. In the spring of 2018 he sang the role of Frankina in Donizetti’s I pazzi per progetto at the Zürich Opera Festival. In the 2018/19 season Engel is appearing as Ramiro in Ravel’s L’heure espagnole with the Lyon Opera Studio. Regular performances with the Lübeck International Choir Academy have included solo roles in, for example, Mozart’s C minor Mass, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and B minor Mass. Engel is especially interested in French vocal music; his repertoire includes songs and song cycles by Duparc, Fauré, Ravel and Ibert.
