Vadim Volkov (b. 1993) is a Russian counter-tenor. He was born in Krasnodar and studied singing at the Rimsky-Korsakov music college in his home town, then at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS). Since 2014 he has appeared in productions of the Moscow-based Helikon Opera, singing such roles as Oreste in Offenbach’s operetta La belle Hélène, Nezhata in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sadko and King Gustav in Tukhmanov’s Tsarina. He sang the role of the Angel in Rubinstein’s The Demon at the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow alongside Dmitri Hvorostovsky in the title role. In the years 2016–18 Volkov was a member of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Programme, appearing in its productions not only in Russia but also in Belgium, Germany and Italy. In 2017 he was an exchange student at La Scala Academy in Milan. He has also sung in dramatized performances of oratorios by Handel and Vivaldi.
