Alexandra Yangel

Alexandra Yangel (b. 1992) is a mezzo-soprano born in Moscow. She started to play the violin at the age of five and graduated from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow in 2011, majoring in violin playing. The violin gave way to singing, which she studied first as a pupil of the Bolshoi Theatre soloist Irina Dolzhenko, and later at the Gnesin Academy in Moscow. Alexandra Yangel is currently studying in the Lied and Oratorium faculty at the Music and Arts Private University of Vienna. As a singer at the Vienna State Opera she has prepared and sung roles including Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Dame comme ci comme ça in Prokofiev’s opera The Gambler. In the 2018/2019 season she is preparing the role of Ascagne in Berlioz’s Les Troyens and the principal role in J.M. Staud’s opera Die Weiden (a world première). In the spring of 2019 Alexandra Yangel made her Italian début as Waltraute in Wagner’s Die Walküre (Teatro Petruzelli, Bari).
